This is the Mountain 1 course. The Wapta Glacier is just outside of Lake Louise, along the icefield parkway between Lake Louise and Jasper. Our day’s went something like this.
Day 1: Drive to the hostel
Day 2: Climb to the Hut
Day 3: Learn how to walk on the glacier, do rope work, and do crevace rescues with mechanical advantage.
Day 4: Hike way up the glacier to do crevace rescue practice and some ice climbing. We also learned self arrests. To top this day off Brett fell into a crevace on our way home that was about 100 feet deep, way to go!
Day 5: We summited Mt. Nicholas and took some awesome photos while hanging off a 1000 foot tall feature.
Day 6: Summited mt. Ayesha, wow, this was pushing it. Great day.
Day 7: Returned to the Hut and had our Crevace rescue exam.
Day 8: Walk down from the hut and head home!

It was a great trip, nothing quite like reaching the summit!
